students' Senior Education ProfileCLASS may be out for the Year 12s of 2012, but many students still have school on their minds, anxiously awaiting news of their final academic results and Overall Position scores.

The students’ Senior Education Profiles containing their results are due to arrive in letterboxes next Monday, December 17.

However many students, including those from Queensland’s 186 independent schools, are likely to go online on Saturday, December 15 from 9am when they will be able to check their  results and OP scores on the Queensland Studies Authority Student Connect website.

Independent Schools Queensland Executive Director David Robertson congratulated all the Year 12 students on their achievements.

“They have worked hard through 12 years of schooling to reach this milestone,” Mr Robertson said.

“Whatever they choose to do in the future, whether it’s university, work, another study path or a gap year, they have finished this phase of their education well-equipped for their future endeavours.”

An OP score, used for tertiary education admission, is a student’s position in a Queensland-wide ranking order of overall achievement in QSA-approved subjects. There are 25 OP scores, from the highest OP1 to OP25.

Mr Robertson said independent schools were extremely proud of their students and while recognising the outstanding achievement of those who attained the highest OP scores, these results were not the only measure of success.

“An OP is only one indicator of the talent, effort and dedication shown by students,” Mr Robertson said.

“Independent school students come from a wide range of backgrounds and will seek an equally diverse range of career paths and educational opportunities. These pathway choices provided by independent schools reflect their strong commitment to both academic excellence and expanding students’ horizons with co-curricular programs.

“Independent Schools Queensland wishes all Year 12 graduates the best as they tread their new pathways beyond the school classroom.”
